31 Days of Prayer for Mothers of Preschoolers

Happy Valentines Day from MOPS! Our Prayer Coordinator, Paula, says if God has one phrase for us for this holiday it would be BE MINE! With great love, Paula has put together this awesome gift for you: a month’s worth of prayers for mothers of preschoolers.

Just print the one-page 31 Days of Prayer for Mothers of Preschoolers list, place it where you’ll see it every day (like in the kitchen, at your desk, or on your bathroom mirror), and take it one day at a time. Each day, you’ll find a new scripture-based prayer to pray for yourself in this special season of motherhood.

Happy New Year and a Prayer from MOPS!

We at MOPS of Bethel Baptist Church want to wish you and your family a safe and happy new year! Please join us in saying this special prayer for the new year from our Prayer Leader, Paula.

Dear Lord,

We thank you that another year is completed in our lives. As you well know, most of us have been busy with our preschoolers. We ask you that 2014 will be a year when we really take time to listen – mostly listen to you – but also to those around us. Remind us that one of our most valuable possessions is time. Please help us to use this gift responsibly. We love and thank you for our beautiful messy lives. Once again, we seek to live for you.

In Jesus name,
Amen

Our MOPS Christmas Prayer

Merry Christmas from your friends at MOPS of Bethel Baptist Church. This year at MOPS is all about letting go of perfect, appreciating the beautiful messes of motherhood, and embracing our stories as they are. What a great time of year to remember that theme! As you celebrate in the coming days, everything will not be perfect, but we hope it’s wonderful! Please join us in this special Christmas prayer from our Prayer leader, Paula:

Lord,

We come to you today in the season and spirit of Advent. Help is to remember, Jesus that you are the reason we celebrate. Thank you for becoming a baby with the goal of eventually offering your life that through belief in you, we can have abundant life and spend eternity in heaven.

We offer ourselves up to you and ask you to renew us and help us to set our focus on you. Thank you for our family and friends. We pray for comfort for those who are grieving or separated from loved ones this year. Our trust and hope in you will sustain us in every situation.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

MOPS Traditions: A Thanksgiving Prayer

This Thanksgiving, may you enjoy safe travels, precious time with loved ones, and a heartfelt spirit of gratitude as you count your blessings. Please join us in this Thanksgiving prayer from our Prayer leader, Paula:

Dear Lord,

We thank you on this Thanksgiving day and every day. You gave us life and freely offer us abundant life through your Son. Help us to maintain a daily attitude of thankfulness. As we approach this day, may our minds be focused on you and spending time with our families. We ask that the cares of the world be put aside as we have this opportunity to celebrate.

In Jesus name,
Amen

Also, Paula is sharing a list of bible verses for Thanksgiving you might want to read, pray, and share. If you would like, you can print the verses (click here to see and print them) and ask for volunteers to take turns reading them around the Thanksgiving table or at some other point during your time together.

Happy Thanksgiving from MOPS!

A Veteran’s Day Prayer

Many of our members are military spouses and we strive to support them through their unique sacrifices and hardships. With a grateful heart, we send care packages to member’s spouses who are deployed for at least four months (to allow time for shipping) to let them know we are immeasurably grateful for their courage and service. We include photos, when possible, and a letter to assure them that we’re looking out for their wives and children here at home. After all, with MOPS, no mom is alone.

On this Veteran’s Day, please join us in a prayer written by the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Phillips, Rector at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church at the University of Rhode Island:

God of all nations, you are our Strength and Shield. We give you thanks today for the devotion and courage of all those who have offered military service for this country: For those who have fought for freedom; For those who have laid down their lives for others; For those who have borne suffering of mind or of body; For those who have brought their best gifts to times of need.  God, in your mercy and love, we thank you for their lives.

On our behalf, oh God, many have entered into danger, endured separation from those they love, labored long hours and born hardship in war and in peacetime.  God, in your mercy and love, we thank you for their lives.

We ask today that you would lift up by your Spirit those who are now at war; encourage and heal those in hospitals or mending their wounds at home; guard those in any need or trouble; hold safely in your hands all military families and bring the returning troops to joyful reunion and tranquil life at home.

Give to us, your people, grateful hearts and a united will to honor these men and women and hold them always in our love and our prayers until your world is perfected in peace and all wars cease.

Through Jesus Christ, our Savior,
Amen

A Prayer for our New Year of MOPS

Our first meeting of 2013-2014 is this Wed., Sept 11. Let’s join together in saying this prayer from our Prayer leader, Paula W., for our new year of MOPS:

Dear Lord,

Thank you for loving us when we feel beautiful; when we feel like we’re a mess. You give us ample grace with just the right balance of discipline to help refine us. We love you so much, and count it a privilege to be called your daughters. As we begin this new MOPS year, we ask that you reveal Yourself to us in ways that are even greater than we can even think or imagine. Our desire is to be a group of ladies who can be used for your glory. Please remind us DAILY of who you are and the great work you are doing in our lives. May we delight in you no matter our circumstances. We trust you.

In Jesus name,
Amen

A Welcome and a Prayer

Welcome to our blog! This is your place for news and inspiration from our mothers of preschoolers group. Through updates, features, pictures, and prayer, we hope this blog will lead us closer to God and to each other, and tell the story of MOPS as never before.

Go ahead and bookmark this page now. So many good things are planned for our new year at MOPS, you’ll want to check back often.

Our theme for the new year is “A Beautiful Mess – Embrace Your Story.” And here is the theme verse we’ll be reflecting on throughout the year:

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 (New Living Translation)

There could be no better way to officially start our blog than with a prayer. Let’s join together in saying this prayer from our new MOPS Prayer leader, Paula W.:

Dear Lord,

I come to you, longing to know you more. Thank you for loving the world so much that you sent your Son. It’s through Him that my messes are made beautiful.  You are my all-in-all, especially in this time of my life, when I have little mouths to feed, bodies to wash, minds to develop, lives to shape, etc. I count it a privilege to be called a mom, but I know I can’t do it alone. I rely on you to help me in this very important task. I trust you and thank you also for giving me encouragement through things like MOPS. I commit myself to you in all I do.

In Jesus Name,

Amen.

Let’s find the beauty in our messy days of mommyhood and embrace our unique stories along the away.
